
The Ukrainian Space Program has many Ukraine Launch Vehicles
and they include: Dnepr
The rocket is
named after the Dnieper River.
It is operated by launch
service provider ISC Kosmotras. The first launch was on 21 April, 1999 with the
payload UoSAT-12, a 350 kg demonstration mini-satellite into a 650 km circular
LEO. Sich Spacecraft
Ukraine launched its
first Earth remote observation system, Sich-1 in 1995 and its modernized version
Sich-1M in 2004. Sich-2 is being developed by Ukraine's Yuzhnoye design bureau
and
will be launched by a
Dnepr rocket from Baikonur, Kazakhstan
in 2008.
Dnepr and Genesis Spacecraft Genesis I, an experimental space habitat designed and built by the private
American firm Bigelow Aerospace as the first of six to ten test spacecraft was
launched on 12 July 2006. Genesis I was a reduced-scale prototype for a future
privately-owned space station. Genesis 2, the
second prototype inflatable space module was launched on 28 June 2007. Sea Launch Sea Launch is a mobile sea platform, used for spacecraft launches of
commercial payloads using the Zenit 3SL rockets. Did you know? * The first Ukrainian astronaut of independent Ukraine was Leonid K. Kadenyuk
who flew on Space Shuttle Columbia STS-87 mission on 13 May 1997 as payload
specialist. Prior to Ukraine's independence, many Ukrainian cosmonauts flew
under the Soviet flag. * Mayak is the name of a future launch vehicle.

The Dnepr is a
three-stage rocket using storable toxic liquid propellants. It is a converted
ICBM used for launching artificial satellites into orbit and is
based on the RS-20
(SS-18 Satan) ballistic missile.
