Vls is Brazil's launch vehicle. It is launched from the Alcantara launch site.

Tsyklon 4

Brazil and Ukraine are planning a joint venture project that would launch the Tsyklon 4 medium-class rocket from the Alcantara launch site for commercial GEO missions. The first launch of a Ukrainian Tsyklon 4 is planned for 2007. The Tsyklon 4 will be able to carry a 5,500kg payload from Alcantara. It may carry a Chinese/Brazilian Earth observation satellite.

A solid rocket booster attached to a Brazilian VLS satellite launcher exploded on the launch pad at Alcantara on 22 August, 2003. 21 people  were killed.

Brazilian astronaut Marcos Pontes may fly to the International Space Station on the next Soyuz taxi flight, scheduled for late March 2006.
