
Salyut 2 was a Military Space Station. It was part of the Almaz Space Station series. It was given the Salyut 2 name in order to conceal its military nature. It was launched on April 3, 1973 by a three stage Proton rocket from Baikonur, USSR. It remained in orbit for 55 days and re-entered Earth's atmosphere on May 28, 1973. Salyut 2 was not visited by a crew. The station had one docking port.
