Lunar Prospector was a moon orbiter. It was the 3rd NASA Discovery Mission. It was launched by an Athena II Rocket on 6 January, 1998 from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA.
It entered in lunar orbit on January 11, 1998. Lunar Prospector ended its mission by crashing on the moon on July 31st, 1999.
