F-117A was the world's
first operational stealth aircraft. F-117A
Nighthawk was a single-seat,
twin-engine stealth ground-attack aircraft. F-117A Nighthawk was
also referred to as a stealth fighter bomber. The F-117A aircraft is
also known as the Frisbee and the Wobblin' Goblin.

The F-117A was powered by two low-bypass F404-GE-F1D2 turbofan
engines from General Electric.
History:
Development of the F-117A began in 1978.
The first flight of Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter prototype was on
June 18, 1981. It was piloted by Harold Farley, Jr. F-117a's existence was
publicly announced in 1988.
The F-117A first saw combat during Operation Just Cause on December 19, 1989
when two F-117As from the 37th TFW attacked military targets in Panama.
The US Air Force retired the F-117 on 22 April 2008 primarily because of the
fielding of the F-22A Raptor and the F-35A Lightning II.
